Legend Island is one of those map secrets that starts annoying you the moment you spot it. You can see it sitting off the south-east coast, but the game won't let you just drive over there and poke around. It's built as late-game content, so you'll need proper Festival progress before the gates open. If you're also building up cars, tunes, and FH6 Credits along the way, the grind feels a bit less painful, since most of the required activities pay out while pushing your rank forward.

Why the island stays locked

Legend Island isn't tied to simple map discovery or the Discover Japan storyline. That catches a lot of players out. You can clear plenty of scenic routes, story chapters, and side objectives, and still find the island blocked. The unlock is based on Horizon Festival progression instead. That means Wristbands, Festival Points, and the big endgame race matter far more than how much of the mainland you've casually explored. Think of the island as the game saying, "Right, you've proved yourself, now here's the serious stuff."

What you actually need

There are three main things to aim for, and none of them are quick. First, you need to gather 32,500 Horizon Festival Points. Second, that progress must carry you all the way to the Gold Wristband, which is the highest Festival rank. Third, you have to complete The Colossus. Only after that does Legend Island properly open up. It's not a shortcut-friendly unlock, either. You can't just win a couple of showcase events and expect the bridge, ferry, or access route to appear. The game wants a broad record of racing, stunts, and consistent results.

How to make the grind less dull

If you want to reach the Gold Wristband without feeling like you're doing chores, mix the fast stuff with longer events. Speed Traps, Speed Zones, and Drift Zones are great when you only have a few minutes. They're quick, repeatable, and usually don't punish you with a long restart if you mess up. Races still matter, though, especially when you're winning them. First place finishes help the progress move faster, and you'll naturally test different cars instead of relying on one overpowered build. A good rhythm is simple: knock out a batch of PR stunts, run a few races, upgrade a car, then move to another region.

Taking on The Colossus

The Colossus is where the unlock starts feeling real. It's not just another long race with a fancy name. It stretches across the freeway network and demands focus for a much longer run than most Horizon events. A wild top-speed car can look tempting, but if it can't brake cleanly or hold a line through faster corners, it'll betray you. AWD hypercars and stable S-class or X-class builds tend to work well, especially with proper tyres, braking, and gearing. Don't tune only for peak speed. Tune for the moments where you need to recover after traffic, a bad angle, or a corner taken too late.

What waits across the water

Once Legend Island opens, it feels less like a small bonus area and more like a second stage of the game. You get a new Festival outpost, tougher races, extra stunt challenges, bonus boards, and events that expect you to know what you're doing. The payouts are strong too, which is why some players compare island farming with checking FH6 Credits for sale when planning expensive garage upgrades. More than anything, the island gives skilled drivers a reason to keep playing after the mainland starts feeling familiar, with sharper routes and better rewards waiting each time you return.
