Most common possibilities are presented below, not all. Therefore this tutorial is ment for new users or the old ones who suspect their up/dl speed is too low.
What does Being connectable even mean? The reason in not being connectable is mostly due to closed ports on router, or being blocked by a firewall...So basically the tracker has determined that you are firewalled or NATed and cannot accept incoming connections.
This means that other peers in the swarm will be unable to connect to you; only you to them. Even worse, if two peers are both in this state they will not be able to connect at all. This obviously sux :o
Solution! The way to solve the problem involves opening the ports used for incoming bittorrent connections (the same range you defined in your bittorrent client), on your firewall, and/or configuring your NAT server (router) to use a basic form of NAT for that range instead of NAPT.
So..!
If you are using a router (if you have more computers etc... ) you have to forward the ports! Follow steps from 1-9
The ones not using a router please head to step 10!
ROUTER USERS
Forwarding ports on whatever your router may be may divided into 2 basic steps!
<="" tt=""> Step 1-8
<="" tt=""> Step 9
Step1: press START-> RUN-> type cmd! and hit enter. This pops out:
Step2: When the new window pops out, type ipconfig/all and click enter:
Step3: Now you will have to copy/write down/memorize! the following: subnet mask, default ateway and two DNS servers adresses (in some cases there may only be one DNS) .
Step4: Click my computer -> contol panel -> network connections . This should look like this:
(Local area connection or wireless area connection are just 2 different types of connections to your router! )
Step5: Right click on your area connection and click properties! :
Step6: Click Internet protocol(TCP/IP) tag -> properties at the bottom:
Step7: When the new window pops up, click Use the following IP adress and enter all the numbers you wrote down/memorized/copied before! (see step 3)
Step8: After that everything should be filled but IP adress. Fill in the first 3 spots with the same numbers as your default gateway and write a number of your own choose in the last spot.
Confirm everything, you should be able to reconnect right away. If you have several computers, do the same with each one of them :o
Step9: Forwarding the ports! Click me ! for EXACT directions on how to open ports on your router. Whatever brand you have. Follow the steps and open the listening port which you inserted into uTorrent. -> if you dont have utorrent then read a tutorial why you should. Port:
This is it. Router ports succesfully opened!
Step10: Below there is a presentation of windows firewall (not on my computer tou). If you have another one browse the web, should be similar tou.
Click Control Panel-->Security center. Click windows firewall. Basically we have to add your client (utorrent) to the exceptions list; programms that are not to be blocked by the firewall.In the Exceptions tab click Add Programm and if your client is not listed click Browse and search for your client. Then select it.
Click ok.
