This feature is available in uTorrent version 1.8 and later. You can not change file names and keep seeding with earlier versions of uTorrent.
You can use this guide if you move or rename the folder in addition to changing file names.
It is possible to change file (and folder) names because they are not really parts of the files. They are like ''labels'' that tell the computer where to find the content of the files.
After such changes, you need to retarget the files in uTorrent if you want to keep seeding the torrent. The procedure for doing this is the same no matter if the torrent is already loaded in uTorrent, or if you add it as a new torrent.
1. If the torrent is already loaded in uTorrent, right-click it and choose ''Stop'' (if it is not already stopped). If you are adding a new torrent with changed file names, make sure that you add it in stopped mode (or stop it very quickly if you fail to do this).
2. Select the torrent, then click the ''Files'' tab in the lower pane. (If you have no lower pane, click ''Options'' and check ''Show detailed info''.)
3. Right-click a file and choose ''Relocate...'' from the menu. (If you have also changed the folder name, or moved the folder, you need to browse to the right folder.)
4. When you are in the right folder, simply click the new file name for the file, then click ''Save''. Be careful that you really choose the right file: sometimes uTorrent and Explorer show the files in different order.
You will see the changed file name in the file list in uTorrent.
5. Optional: When you have changed all the file names to the new names, you may want to right-click the torrent and choose ''Force re-check'' in order to be sure that all the files were pointed to the right new names.
6. Right-click the torrent and choose ''Start'' (or ''Force Start'' if you want to make sure the torrent does not get queued).

uTorrent - Seed files inside renamed folder:
1. Stop the torrent by right-clicking it and choosing ''Stop''.
2. In uTorrent, right-click the torrent and choose ''Advanced -> Set Download Location...''
3. Browse to the moved and/or re-named folder, click OK.
4. Optional: If you have re-named the folder and want to change the name of the torrent, so that the new name shows in uTorrent, too, select the torrent and (left-)click it again. (or select the torrent and press F2)
5. Optional: If you want to be really sure you got it right, right-click the torrent and choose ''Force Re-Check''. When it stops checking, uTorrent should say that 100% is done.
6. Right-click the torrent and choose ''Start'' (or ''Force Start'' if you want to make sure the torrent does not get queued).

uTorrent - Re-seed a torrent:
This guide is about how to add a torrent and start seeding it when you already have the files for it, but it is not (yet) loaded in uTorrent. You need to do this the first time you upload a torrent file to the site, since you need to download a changed torrent that contains your passkey from the site. In order to be able to seed your torrent, you must add this changed torrent to uTorrent. (In the future, copy and paste the announce URL with your passkey in it when you create a new torrent ? then you won't have to download a changed torrent from the site.)
The procedure is the same if you, for example, want to help in seeding an old torrent that you recognize, or if you have downloaded a torrent elsewhere but want to seed it here too. But, since you can't be sure that the files really are the same if somebody else has uploaded them to the site, I recommend adding the torrent in stopped mode and re-checking it as described below. Your existing files will be over-written if you start downloading if the files are not a 100% match.
1. Download the torrent from the site, add it to uTorrent.
2. If you have not checked ''Don't start the download automatically'' in ''Options -> Preferences -> UI Settings'', make sure that you uncheck ''Start torrent''. That will make sure that the torrent is added in stopped mode, so that you can check the files before starting (hopefully) to seed.
3. If the drop-down list for download locations ''Save As'' does not contain the path to where your files are, click the [...] button and browse to the right folder, then click OK. Click OK once more to load the torrent in uTorrent.
4. In uTorrent, right-click the torrent and choose ''Force Re-Check''. When it's done, uTorrent should say that the torrent is 100% done.
5. Right-click the torrent and choose ''Start'' (or ''Force Start'' if you want to make sure the torrent does not get queued).
If it says ''0'' after the re-check, you may not have set the right download location after all - if you think that's the case, right-click, choose ''Advanced -> Set Download Location...'' and browse to the right folder.
Or, it may be that you actually have the right files, but that the file names do not match. See ''uTorrent - Seed renamed files'' above, then use ''Force Re-Check'' again.
Finally, if you have tried the above but the re-check still ends up saying "0% done", it may be that your files simply are not identical to the ones somebody else has uploaded, even if the content is the same (same album, etc). There's nothing to do about that, you just can't use them for seeding the torrent.
Partial seeding
If the percentage is somewhere between 0 and 100, there are, obviously, differences between your files and the ones described in the .torrent file. You can investigate the differences by selecting the torrent, then inspect the files in the detailed info pane; click the files tab. (If you don't have that panel in the bottom half of uTorrent, click ''Options ? Show Detailed Info''.)

1. ?n cazul ?n care torrentul este deja ?nc?rcat ?n uTorrent, faceti clic dreapta si alegeti ''Stop'' (dac? nu este deja oprit). Dac? ad?ugati un torrent nou cu numele fisierelor schimbate, asigurati-v? c?-l ad?ugati ?n modul oprit (sau s? ?l opriti foarte repede, dac? nu reusiti s? faceti asta de la inceput).
2. Selectati torrentul, apoi faceti clic pe tab-ul ''Files'' ?n panoul de jos. (Dac? nu aveti panoul inferior, faceti clic pe "Options'' si bifati ''Show detailed info''.)
3. Faceti clic dreapta pe un fisier si alegeti ''Relocate...'' din meniu. (Dac? folder-ul a fost redenumit, sau mutat, trebuie s? navigati pana la locatia lui.)
4. C?nd ati ajuns la folder, faceti clic pe fisierul cu numele nou, apoi clic pe ''Save''. Aveti grij? s? alegeti fisierul corect: uneori uTorrent si Explorer afiseaz? fisierele ?n ordine diferit?. Veti vedea fisierul cu numele schimbat ?n lista de fisiere ?n uTorrent.
5. Optional: Dupa ce ati schimbat toate numele fisierelor cu noul nume, este bine s? verificati torrent-ul (clic dreapta pe torrent si ''Force re-check''), pentru a fi siguri c? toate fisierele au fost directionate corect spre fisierele cu nume noi .
6. Faceti clic dreapta pe torrent si alegeti ''Start'' (sau ''Force Start'' dac? doriti s? v? asigurati c? a torrent-ul nu ajunge la coad?)

uTorrent - Re-seed a torrent:
Acest ghid va arata cum s? ad?ugati si tineti la seed un torent atunci c?nd aveti deja fisierele pentru el, dar nu este (?nc?) ?nc?rcat ?n uTorrent. Trebuie s? faceti asta, prima dat? c?nd ati upload-at un fisier torrent pe un site, si trebuie s? desc?rcati torrent-ul schimbat ce contine passkey-ul dvs. de pe site. Pentru a putea tine la seed un torrent, trebuie s? ad?ugati aceast torrent schimbat ?n uTorrent. (?n viitor, copiati si lipiti URL-ul ce contine passkey-ul dvs. in el (Torrent Properties -> General -> Trackers), atunci c?nd creati un torrent nou - atunci nu va mai trebui s? desc?rcati un torent schimbat de pe site.)
Procedura este aceeasi dac?, de exemplu, doriti s? ajutati la Seed-ul unui torrent mai vechi pe care il recunoasteti, sau dac? ati desc?rcat torrentul din alt? parte, dar vreti s?-l tineti la seed si aici. Dar, de vreme ce nu puteti fi siguri c? fisierele sunt la fel, dac? altcineva le-a ?nc?rcat pe site, este recomandata adaugarea torrent-ului in mod oprit si verificarea lui dupa cum este descris mai jos. Fisierele dvs. existente vor fi supra-scrise dac? ?ncepeti desc?rcarea, si fisierele nu sunt identice 100%.
1. Descarcati torrentul de pe site, ad?ugati-l la uTorrent.
2. Dac? nu ati bifat ''Don't start the download automatically'' in ''Options -> Preferences -> UI Settings'', asigurati-v? c? debifati ''Start torrent''. Asta va asigura adaugarea torrentului ?n mod oprit, astfel ?nc?t s? puteti verifica fisierele ?nainte de a ?ncepe seed-ul.
3. Dac? lista derulant? pentru locatii de descarcare ''Save as'' nu contine calea c?tre fisierele dvs., faceti clic pe butonul [...] si r?sfoiti pana la folderul corect, apoi faceti clic pe OK. Clic pe OK, ?nca o dat? pentru a ?nc?rca torrentul in uTorrent.
4. ?n uTorrent, faceti clic dreapta pe torrent si alegeti ''Force Re-Check''. C?nd este gata, uTorrent ar trebui sa afiseze ca torrentul este 100% terminat.
5. Faceti clic dreapta pe torrent si alegeti ''Start'' (sau ''Force Start'' dac? doriti s? v? asigurati c? a torrent-ul nu ajunge la coad?).
Dac? afiseaza ''0'', dup? re-check, este posibil s? fie gresit? locatia pentru download - dac? credeti c? asta e cauza, faceti clic dreapta pe torrent, alegeti ''Advanced -> Set Download Location..." si navigati pana la folder-ul corect.
Sau, este posibil sa aveti fisierele corecte, dar numele fisierelor nu sunt identice. Vezi ''uTorrent - Seed renamed files'' mai sus, apoi utilizati ''Force Re-Check'' din nou.
?n final, dac? ati ?ncercat cele de mai sus, dar dupa re-check este afisat tot "0% done", atunci fisierele dvs. nu sunt identice cu cele upload-ate de altcineva, chiar daca continutul este acelasi (aceleasi album, TV series, etc). Nu puteti face nimic in cazul asta, nu le puteti utiliza pentru a tine la seed acel torrent.
Seed partial
Dac? procentul este undeva ?ntre 0 si 100, atunci sunt, evident, diferente intre fisierele dvs. si cele descrise ?n fisier-ul .torrent . Puteti investiga diferentele prin selectarea torrent-ului, apoi inspectati fisiere ?n panoul de informatii detaliate; faceti clic pe tab-ul ''Files''. (Dac? nu aveti panoul din partea de jos, faceti clic pe "Options'' si bifati ''Show detailed info''.)
