This Tutorial will help you install the latest (Today 070522) hacked firmware to your PSP, it´s called Open Edition 3.40a and is made by Dark Alex, to start with. You will need firmware 1.5 or any previous version of PSP Open Edition. How to downgrade your PSP is different from each version so search google if you are not 1.5 or OE allready. (X: is your PSP-Drive)

Tips:
If you have custom firmware previously installed on your 1.5 or anything like that, you can still upgrade without cleaning the flash out. Also you should restore your psp back to default settings. And format your memorystick beforehand.

** 3.40 can only be installed from firmware 1.5 or any other version of OE.**

First grab the 3.40 OE-A files here http://exophase.com/files/psp/340_oea.rar

1. Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE. (X: is your PSP-Drive)

2. Now download the 1.50 and 3.40 updates which you can grab below:
http://72.29.74.204/~exophase/external/150.PBP
http://du01.psp.update.playstation.org/ … /EBOOT.PBP

3. Place these 2 updates in the oeupdmaker folder and ensure they are named exactly like this 150.PBP and 340.PBP. Now navigate to the game menu on your PSP and execute the update maker. It will take a few minutes to create the file, once finished a DATA.DXAR will be found in the oeupdmaker folder. (MAKE CERTAIN THAT THEY ARE NAMED 150.PBP and 340.PBP)

Please note: If you get an error message that says "Invalid SHA-1" when creating the DXAR do not proceed further. This means you have a faulty memory stick and a corrupt DATA.DXAR was created. Start over using a different memory stick.

4. Copy 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE.

5. Copy the DATA.DXAR created in step 3 to the 340oeflasher folder.

6. Navigate to the game menu on your PSP, run the 3.40 OE-A flasher and follow the on screen instructions. Once done your PSP will now be running 3.40 OE-A

When all is done and you have rebooted your PSP you should put your ISO-games in X:ISO
etc. X:ISOWipeout.iso and they appear in the games-menu. Homebrew stuff and applications should be placed in the X: PSPGAME150 folder to work properly.

A great application to watch mediafiles with is PSPlayerMT, it plays almost every format and has a resizable movie-window.You can find it here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/369

Good luck with your PSP! And if you need any more help, google or send me a PM. I am a bit of a newbie myself but i have gathered as much information as i thought was needed to get started with your PSP and posted it here.
