Un duplice equivoco e le mene di Sempronia, moglie di re Tullo Ostilio, fanno scoppiare la guerra fra i legionari della corrotta e indolente Roma e un gruppo di abitanti della laboriosa Alba Longobarda, in gita nella capitale. Interviene Apollo, che  gerisce di affidare la soluzione del conflitto a un duello fra i Curiazi, rappresentanti di Alba, e gli Orazi che difendono Roma. Grazie all'appoggio del dio la vittoria va, seppure immeritatamente, a questi ultimi.
A double misunderstanding and the mene of Sempronia, wife of King Tullus Hostilius, start the war among the legionaries of the corrupt and indolent Rome and a group of inhabitants of the laborious Alba Longobarda, on a trip to the capital. Apollo intervenes, gesting that the solution of the conflict should be entrusted to a duel between the Curiazi, representatives of Alba, and the Orazi defending Rome. Thanks to the support of the god, victory goes, albeit undeservedly, to the latter.
