Jimmy, Edward, Lefty si Tom sunt patru prieteni din vestul salbatic. Ei au luptat mereu pentru dreptate si lege impotriva raufacatorilor si a proscrisilor. Lumea s-a schimbat si oamenii la fel, asa ca drumurile acestor prietni s-au despartit de-a lungul timpului. Jimmy este guvernatorul statului Montana. Edward si Lefty raman impreuna ca partener, cei doi se ocupa de ferma lu Edward. Tom este seriful districtului. Atunci cand Edward candideaza pentru un loc in senat, castigat, el este nevoit sa plece in Washington, hotarand sa lase ferma pe mana prietenului sau de o viata Lefty. Atunci cand se pregateste sa plece, Edward este ucis de un hot care ii fura trei dintre caii sai. Lefty jura sa il gaseasca pe ucigasul prietenului sau si sa il aduca in fata justitiei.
