Ispirato alla serie che ottenne un grande successo in tutto il mondo tra il 1984 e il 1994, il ritorno di Miami Vice firmato da Michael Mann si permette oggi ciò che la televisione di allora non poteva proporre al proprio pubblico. Quindi nella vicenda di Sonny e Tubbs, i due poliziotti abilissimi a infiltrarsi in un grosso giro di droga, inserisce violenza ad alta intensità di decibel e una storia di passione che non concede più che tanto alla vista ma offre comunque un buon grado di calor bianco. Michael Mann è un maestro accreditato del genere e con questo remake è consapevole di prendersi un bel rischio. Colin Farrell (bello e inespressivo più di quanto basta) e Jamie Foxx rilevano Don Johnson e Philip Michael Thomas.
