Roy Cady, un asasin plătit extrem de periculos din New Orleans, este diagnosticat cu cancer la plămâni. Însă înainte ca boala să îi pună capăt zilelor, Roy are de rezolvat chestiuni mult mai urgente dat fiind că șeful lui mafiot e hotărât să îl înlăture atât din afaceri, cât și de pe această lume folosindu-se de o înscenare josnică. Încercând să întoarcă situația în favoarea lui, tânărul mercenar hotărăște să fugă împreună cu Raquel „Rocky” Arceneaux, o tânără ituată pe care o salvează de la o viață de coșmar.
