This brings us to the recordings you now hold in your hand. Thankfully, nearly everything that Roscoe recorded back in the day has been reissued in recent years, and I highly recommend seeking out his Exceilo, Sound Stage 7 and Ref-0-Ree Recordings. Most of his work from the 1990s is readily available and this release comprises the last of his known recordings. The duet with Mary-Ann Brandon is of course from her 2002 R.O.A.D. Records release, and the duet with Earl Gaines is an alternate version from their Cannonball CO. "The Best Day Of My Life" and "Blues At Midnight" are from the first Exceilo Legends CO on Blue Moon, long out of print, and "Please Think It Over" and "The Next Time" are outtakes from the Appaloosa CD "She's The One" When Roscoe's Exceilo material was reissued, we discovered that he still owned the copyrights for the imreleased songs. He decided to publish them through my publishing company and "Save Me" and "Why Didn't You Tell Me (For So Long)" are publishing demos we used to pitch the songs to other artists. "Heat Op The Oven* is also a publishing demo that Roscoe graciously sang for me. The remaining tracks (the first three on the album) were intended to be the start of his next album, but he became too ill to continue. One re-recording of one of his classics ("It's My Fault", and two new compositions ("Who Do You Think You Are" & "A Step In The Right Direction". He had intended to pitch "A Step in The Right Direction" to old friend Tina Turner for her to record. Roscoe Shelton is one of the most talented singer/songwriter/performers I've ever had the pleasure of working with, and I hope you enjoy these recordings half as much as we did making them.
